Grade 5 & 6 (Girls)
Maths Quiz was conducted on January 6th. This competition aimed to test the knowledge of the concepts taught, Maths skills and proficiency & aptitude of students. They participated with enthusiasm and showcased their good knowledge of the subject.
Grade 5 & 6 (Boys)
Quiz Competition (Social Science) was conducted on January 9th. The objective of this competition was to encourage students to look beyond their textual knowledge.
Grade 8 (Girls)
Street Play was scheduled to be held on January 7th is now postponed to be conducted during the month of February, due to the engagement of students for Republic Day program.
Grade 7 & 8 (Boys)
Annual Day was planned to be conducted on January 29th is now postponed to be conducted during the month of February, due to conflict with other school programme.
Grade 9 (Girls)
Calligraphy Competition (English) originally scheduled to be conducted on January 7th is postponed and now it will be conducted on February 3rd, due to certain unavoidable circumstances.
Thematic Assembly (Topaz House) was held on January 23rd. This assembly was an opportunity to celebrate the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr- an influential American civil rights leader. It aimed to teach students the importance of peaceful conflict resolutions. Skit based on the freedom struggle lead by the visionary leader was the highlight.
Grade 10 (Girls)
Poetry Writing Competition planned to be conducted on January 7th was cancelled, due to students’ absence (preparation for Board Exams).
Grade 9 & 10 (Boys)
House Day scheduled to be organised on January 30th is postponed to February 17th due to non-availability of Auditorium.
Grade 10 (Boys)
HOD Orientation session was conducted on January 28th. During this session, HODs briefed the students about the board exams, motivated them to fare well during exams and pass out with flying colours.
Grade 11 (Girls)
Economics Workshop was held on January 21st. This workshop aimed to encourage students’ dialogue, receive fresh perspective, develop new ideas and improve their skills in the subject.
Assessment of Speaking and Listening (ASL-2) was organised on January 28th. Students speaking and listening skills were tested and assessed. It was part of their academics and terminal examinations.
Entrepreneurship Exhibition was conducted on January 29th. Through handmade samples, students exhibited what they have learnt. They demonstrated to what degree they have achieved the expected learning standards or learning objectives of their third term project titled ‘know thy state handicraft’.
Unit Test planned for this month was completed and will continue till February. It aimed to evaluate students’ progress in learning when they near towards the end of their academic year.
Grade 11 & 12 (Girls)
Fortnight Delite planned in the last week of January was not executed as the board practical was announced earlier.
Second Model exam was ended on January 20th. This exam helped to assess students on all the concepts learned throughout this year. They were assessed for the entire portions as per the guidelines issued by CBSE.
Summarization of Stories was conducted on January 22nd & 30th for grades 7 to 9 respectively. Students took part in the competition with great enthusiasm. Three students have been selected of the first three prizes. It helped to improve their learning of new vocabularies and written ability.
Republic Day of India was celebrated on January 26th. Students enthusiastically participated. They showcased beautiful colors and depicted the theme titled ‘Tolerance’ through dance, mime & drill. The Spirit of oneness and love for the nation was displayed. It aimed to inspire patriotic spirit among them. It was also an opportunity to promote rich cultural diversity of the country – India.
Film Production Workshop was held on January 15th at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) Dubai Campus for grade 11. The purpose of this workshop for students was to give them opportunity to explore their talents and interest in the field of film production. They were able to explore their skills and interest in the field of film production.
A Special Presentation of Mc Master University (Canada) was conducted on January 16th for grade 11 & 12. Through this presentation, students were oriented about university’s programs offer, admission requirements, application process, fee structure and deadline of application.
A Workshop titled ‘Be an Engineer for a Day’ was held on January 19th at Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus for grade 11 Science with Maths. The objective of this workshop was to give interesting taster session / workshops where students can explore what it feels like to be an engineer for a day. They were able to experience the tasks in the different engineering fields to see if the profession is a right fit for them.
Future Doctors Roadshow 2019 by Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) Bahrain was conducted on January 26th at Deira International School Dubai for grade 11 Science with Biology. Students were able to gain insights into the life of a doctor and a medical student. It was an opportunity to provide insights into the life of a medical student and life as a doctor by participating into workshops of basic medical sciences, clinical skills and communications.
Olympiad Mathematics was held on January 30th at Ajman University for grade 11 selected students. During this competition, students showcased their Mathematical skills and knowledge. They demonstrated the knowledge of students in various fields of Maths.
A Student Talk on the topic ‘Self Awareness & Managing Emotions’ was planned to be held on January 7th for grade 8 boys. The talk was cancelled as school declared that it will close earlier than the regular time owing to Asian Football Cup events.
Student Talks on the topics ‘Growing Up Gracefully’ for grade 5 girls and ‘Positive Personality’ for grade 7 boys were conducted on January 13th. These talks helped grade 5 girls in adjusting to changes as they grow while grade 7 boys in shaping their personality in a positive manner.
A Student Talk on the topic ‘Effective Communication’ scheduled on January 20th for grade 6 girls is postponed to February due to school declaring holiday owing to Asian Football Cup events.
A Student Talk on the topic ‘Adding Value to your Profile and Cyber Security Awareness’ was held on January 22nd for grade 9. During this talk, cyber security experts brought awareness among students on how to be cyber safe. They also understand the importance of online profile in future study and career.
A Student Talk on the topic ‘Self Awareness & Managing Emotions’ was conducted on January 28th for grade 8 girls. The objective of this talk was to help students improve their awareness of different emotions and ways to manage them.
Student Talks on the topic ‘College Readiness – Part 3’ were conducted during this month for grade 11 girls. These talks were an opportunity for students to understand college search and admissions.
CPD Program on E-Learning – Use of Interactive White Boards was organised from January 8th till 23rd. This training helped to determine the level and effectiveness of teachers in using the ‘interactive white boards’.
A two day Workshop was conducted on January 11th & 12th for Senior Secondary Teachers in the subject of Mathematics. This workshop dealt with question paper setting and handling of HOTS questions pertaining to analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
