RESOURCE BASED LEARNING (RBL)

 

OBJECTIVES:

To enhance the skills of critical thinking, reasoning power and verbal aptitude of the bright students.

To cover a wide spectrum of possibilities and modes, according to the temperament and professional decision of the teacher and the circumstances of the subject matter and class.

To enable the students’ to learn from their own direct confrontation, individually or in a group with a learning resource or a set of resources and activities connected with them.

To design powerful learning environments that enable self directed learning.


TARGET GROUP:

Top 25 girls and 25 boys are selected using the criteria specified for RBL classes-(Double the math mark + science mark) from grade 2 yearly performance to attend the programme in Grade 3. After completing the course in Grade 3, the same batch will continue in Grade 4.


NO OF PARTICIPANTS:

25 advanced learners from grade3 and 25 advanced learners from grade 4 who qualify the criteria specified for RBL classes.

PROCEDURE OF IMPLEMENTATION:

Subjects selected for RBL-English, Science and Mathematics.

Teachers of grades 2 to prepare a list of 25 students who qualify the RBL criteria based on their yearly performance.

This list is to be given to the RBL coordinator

A circular is to be sent to the parents seeking their co-operation about enrolling the students for RBL classes. (RBL fees, bus timings to be mentioned)

A schedule is to be drawn for conducting the classes and the relevant departments are informed accordingly.

Modules are to be prepared and presented to the Supervisor, coordinator in charge and HOD of the subject for their approval.

Principal selects experienced teachers to conduct the RBL classes.

IOM to be sent to relevant departments.

Classes are to be monitored regularly by the coordinator in charge.

Students who are selected will continue in the RBL classes for 2 years(Grade 3 & 4)

Students are to be issued certificates noting the completion of RBL program at the end of grade 4.


DUTIES OF THE COORDINATOR:

To consolidate the list of students

To inform the teachers about their selection

To inform the students about the schedule of the classes

To prepare batches according to the subjects.

To check the modules prepared by the teachers.

To monitor the functioning of the classes

To seek feedback from the parents.


DUTIES OF THE RBL TEACHERS

To make the modules for the term and get them approved by the coordinator, HOD and Supervisor

To keep a record of all the activities relating to RBL classes.

To keep a record of attendance.

To report any lapse in work, attendance etc to the coordinator in charge.

To prepare worksheets for practice.


REPORTING STRUCTURE

Weekly report by the teachers to the coordinator in charge.

Monthly report by the coordinator to the supervisor.

Termwise report by the supervisor to the Principal.
